Surprise: Ads are Officially Coming to Your Threads Feed Starting Next Week

If you have been enjoying a relatively ad-free experience on Meta’s Threads, get ready for a change. Meta has announced today that starting next week, it will begin rolling out ads to all users and markets globally. This comes as the platform officially hits a massive milestone of 400 million monthly active users just two years after it first launched (there’s now over 150 million daily active users).

While some advertisers have been testing the waters since last spring, the reach was limited. Now, Meta is opening the floodgates. The company is integrating Threads into its existing AI-powered ad system, which means the sponsored posts you see will likely feel very similar to the ones currently showing up on Facebook and Instagram.

Meta is making it incredibly easy for brands to jump onto the platform. Instead of creating new content from scratch, businesses can simply extend their existing campaigns. Threads is being added as an automatic placement option, allowing standard images, videos, and carousel posts to pop up natively as you scroll through your conversations.

The company has also introduced more technical support for advertisers, including 4:5 aspect ratio videos and the ability to run catalog ads. To keep things from becoming overwhelming too quickly, Meta says the rollout will be gradual. You might not see a ton of ads immediately, but the volume will steadily increase over the coming months as the system goes fully global.

Beyond just showing you products, Meta is giving businesses more tools to manage their presence. Threads accounts are being folded into the main Meta Business Settings alongside WhatsApp and Instagram. This allows companies to handle everything from a single dashboard.

There is also a big push for “brand safety.” Meta has expanded third-party verification to the Threads feed to ensure advertisers feel comfortable with the types of conversations their ads appear next to. It is a clear sign that Meta is ready to turn its fast-growing “conversation app” into a serious revenue generator.

It’s always too good to be true, right? An app launches as free, gains millions of users and eyeballs, then the ads come. It’s a tried, tested and true model. Threads got a huge head start because anyone using Instagram was able to just use their existing login to get started.

I don't use anything from Meta, not even WhatsApp. It's retarded how credulous and apathetic people have become especially in regards to their data and privacy.
