Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile to Shut Down in April as it Failed to Meet Activision’s Expectations

Activision Blizzard has announced that Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is getting shut down on April 17th. The mobile version of the popular battle royale title will sunset services this spring after being removed from app stores in May of last year.

In a statement posted on the Activision Support website, the company says that it is making “the final decision to take Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile offline.” Activision Blizzard goes on to say that Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile did not meet company expectations.

“While we’re proud of the accomplishment in bringing Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile in an authentic way, it unfortunately did not meet our expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences.”

Last year, Activision Blizzard made the decision to delist Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile from the App Store and Google Play Store. While services remained active, the team stopped developing new seasonal content for the game and making updates to the gameplay. Additionally, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile stopped using in-app purchases with real currency.  Unfortunately, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile was shut down permanently.

Players who have an active Activision account can continue to use it to play Call of Duty: Mobile or use it to play the core Call of Duty experience on consoles or PC.  This same account can be used when playing current games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 online.

Activision Blizzard urges players who have unused CoD Points in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile to spend them prior to April 17th. After this date, they’ll be unusable as the servers will be shutting down. Some in-game content from Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile can be carried over into the core version of Call of Duty: Warzone.

Activision is encouraging players to switch to Call of Duty: Mobile if they want to play on a mobile device. This game was released in 2019 and has been widely considered the more popular of the two mobile titles published by the company.
