Expedia has officially launched its new Flight Deals tool in Canada to help travellers find the best airfares through real-time data and interactive mapping. Available exclusively on the Expedia app, the feature identifies fares that are at least 20% lower than typical predicted prices for similar routes.
The tool uses machine learning to analyze millions of flights daily, filtering for quality by removing routes with multiple stops or excessively long layovers. A new interactive map for iOS users (only) also allows for a visual comparison of destinations, making it easier to spot standout deals at a glance.
“With Flight Deals now available in Canada, we’re giving travellers a smarter, clearer way to know when a fare is genuinely great value,” said CJ Allen, VP of Product at Expedia, in a statement to iPhone in Canada on Tuesday. “We analyze millions of flights every day and turn that into simple tools like our new interactive map, so travellers can quickly compare destinations, understand what’s a real deal, and book their flights with confidence.”
The personalized feed allows travellers to set a home airport and browse deals worldwide or filter by specific dates and destinations. The system only surfaces flights found within the last 24 hours that meet strict quality standards, such as reasonable layover times. Users can also set custom notifications to be alerted the moment a new deal appears for their preferred routes.
The Flight Deals tool is located under the Search tab in the Expedia app and is free to use for both domestic and international fares. Let us know if you’re going to give this a try.
