Meta and NVIDIA Join Forces: Why Personal Superintelligence is Coming to You

Meta and NVIDIA have just announced a massive new partnership that is set to reshape how AI works for everyone on the planet. The multi-year deal is all about building the next generation of data centres specifically designed to handle the massive demands of AI training and everyday use.
This isn’t just about faster chips; it’s a deep collaboration that includes everything from hardware and networking to the software that runs it all. Meta is planning to deploy millions of NVIDIA’s Blackwell and Rubin GPUs, which are the absolute cutting-edge of AI technology.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang noted that the goal is to create a foundation for the “next AI frontier,” saying that “No one deploys AI at Meta’s scale — integrating frontier research with industrial-scale infrastructure to power the world’s largest personalization and recommendation systems for billions of users.”
One of the most interesting parts of the deal involves WhatsApp. Meta is adopting NVIDIA’s Confidential Computing technology for the platform. This tech essentially creates a secure vault inside the server, allowing AI to process your messages to help you out while ensuring your data stays private and encrypted. It’s a way to give people AI features without sacrificing the core promise of WhatsApp’s privacy.
The partnership is looking well into the future, specifically focusing on NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform. This new tech is designed to be incredibly energy-efficient, which is a big deal when you’re running AI for billions of people.
Named after the legendary astronomer who discovered dark matter, the Vera Rubin platform isn’t just a chip; it is a rack-scale supercomputer system that combines NVIDIA’s first fully custom-designed CPU (Vera) with their most powerful AI GPU to date (Rubin) to cut AI processing costs by up to 10x. Now, the problem is for most companies it’s nearly impossible to get their hands on Vera Rubin, unless you’re a huge tech giant like Meta, Microsoft or Google, for example, who have already pre-ordered millions of units.
“We’re excited to expand our partnership with NVIDIA to build leading-edge clusters using their Vera Rubin platform to deliver personal superintelligence to everyone in the world,” said Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
