Dyson Ultra-Thin PencilWash is Coming to Canada April 16

Update April 14 @ 4:40: Dyson Canada has delayed the launch of the PencilWash in Canada to May 7

Dyson has revealed its brand-new ultra-thin PencilWash floor cleaner, launching in Canada on April 16th. Working off the foundation of its PencilVac and the Wash G1, the Dyson PencilWash leverages the company’s recently adopted expertise in wet cleaning products with design ingenuity. The PencilWash launches at $449.99.

Seeing the PencilWash in person during a behind-closed-doors preview event, it’s a marvel to look at and hold in your hand. The device is incredibly slim and features a 38mm body. The PencilWash sits comfortably in my hand, feeling almost like a baton. It measures in at 10.49 x 7.81 x 45.59 inches, making the tip of the handle sit comfortably, just above my hip. It makes for a very compelling purchase for a home if you primarily have hardwood, laminent and tiles.

Pushing the PencilWash along a hardwood floor or across tiling is an effortless breeze. The device itself weighs only 2.2kg. Most users will be able to steer the PencilWash quite easily across various surfaces within their home. The best of all is that the PencilWash can reach underneath furniture like a cabinet as it can lie flat to 170 degrees, so dirt and debris hiding under low furniture shouldn’t be an issue.

From wet spills to stains on a kitchen tile, the PencilWash is designed to tackle those messes. The new PencilWash is a filter-free machine, capable of tackling and cleaning the home. With 64,000 filaments per centimetre-squared on its microfibre roller, the device spins rapidly to trap dirt and bacteria. In my personal experience, I saw the PencilWash able to handle recently placed ketchup spills with very little effort needed.

The device offers an 8-point hydration system that delivers a consistent supply of fresh water to the roller. A built-in 300ml chamber compartment houses the clean water, capable of covering 100 square meters of flooring. The PencilWash has another 360ml chamber used to store the dirty water. While an obvious pun, what I found to be pretty slick was how there is very little water left over when cleaning a surface. An obvious sheen can be seen on the floor, but nothing like what’s left over with a traditional mop or other wet floor cleaner alternatives I’ve used.

The PencilWash includes two hydration modes with controls built in near the handle of the device. One is your all-around mode used to tackle light spills. However, there is a more heavy-duty mode that can be used for tougher spills and stains. Dyson claims you’ll garner up to 30 minutes of runtime on a single charge. Using the included charger for the handle stem, the PencilWash can be fully charged in around 3.5 hours, the company states.

Once available later on April 16, the Dyson PencilWash will be available on the official website for $449.99 in Canada.

Strictly speaking, nothing but it does with iPhone in Canada as it brings revenue from being infomercialed here 🙂
