EA Set to Go Private in $55 Billion Deal

Driven by the record-breaking launch of Battlefield 6, gaming giant Electronic Arts saw its net bookings jump to over $3 billion in Q3 2026. According to a report by Variety, the company is now preparing for a $55 billion deal to go private.

The star of the show this year has undoubtedly been Battlefield 6. The game has officially become the best-selling shooter of 2025 and has set new records for the entire franchise. According to the company, the title sold 7 million copies in its opening window, shattering previous internal goals.

Beyond the battlefield, the EA Sports portfolio continues to be a reliable source of income. Titles like EA Sports FC 26 and Madden NFL 26 are showing steady growth. Specifically, the football franchise saw its net bookings increase in the high single digits. This was helped by the popularity of Ultimate Team and a very strong performance from the mobile version of the game.

Mobile gaming is a significant part of the story for EA, making up about 13 percent of their total revenue. Even though mobile revenue technically fell by 8 percent to $254 million this quarter, the company highlighted FC Mobile as a major driver for player engagement.

Despite these record-breaking sales, the company did not host a traditional earnings call with investors. This is because Electronic Arts is in the middle of a massive $55 billion deal to be acquired and taken private. A group of investors, including the Public Investment Fund and Silver Lake, is behind the move. The deal is expected to be finished by the spring or summer of 2026.

Andrew Wilson, the CEO of Electronic Arts, shared his thoughts on the current state of the company.
