An unannounced Sonos speaker has supposedly been leaked online via a Best Buy Canada listing. The Sonos Play looks to be a successor to the widely popular portable Sonos Move 2.
The listing has now been taken down by Best Buy Canada. However, pertinent information was first reported by The Verge. The Sonos Play looks similar to the Sonos Move 2. However, it appears more compact and has a loop on the back for carrying. According to the report, Best Buy Canada had listed the Sonos Play speaker for $399.99 with a release of March 31st, 2026.
The listing states that Sonos Play offers support for multi-room setups with up to 32 speakers via Wi-Fi. Additionally, the portable speakers sport AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth 5.3. Plus, an included aux port is available for connecting audio equipment. Best Buy Canada’s listing also suggests that the Sonos Play offers Truplay, adjusting sounds and audio based on your environment.
What the Sonos Play provides over the Move 2, if accurate, is an IP67 rating. The unannounced device is said to be waterproof and dustproof. This would make it a bridge between the Move 2 and Sonos’ Roam speaker.
Sonos Play is said to offer 24 hours of battery life on a single charge and comes with a wireless charging base, similar to the Sonos Move 2. Plus, the speakers may also offer charging functions via USB-C, so users could plug in their phone or other device for a quick charge.
As of the time of writing, Sonos has not officially acknowledged the Sonos Play. However, given the release date noted by Best Buy Canada, the company should be making a formal announcement soon.
