Bell’s Virgin Plus Joins 5G Price War: New Plans Match Fido and Koodo

Bell’s flanker brand Virgin Plus has launched 5G wireless plans again, joining rivals Fido and Koodo.

“Affordable nationwide 5G is here!”, reads the Virgin Plus website. Also new are data bonuses of 20GB on the company’s $40 and $49 plans, taking them to 80GB total, matching its rivals.

Here are the Virgin Plus 5G plans below, with data speeds up to 1 Gbps:

  • $35/20GB
  • $40/80GB (was 60GB)
  • $49/80GB (was 60GB ) Canada-US-Mexico
  • $55/100GB

“As part of our work to put customers first, we’re bringing 5G to Virgin Plus nationwide – delivering a fast, reliable network experience from coast to coast to coast,” said Virgin Plus spokesperson to iPhone in Canada in statement on Thursday.

“Bell offers a broad range of wireless options – from premium network experiences like 5G+ Advanced to integrated bundles with our world‑leading fibre and Crave streaming service – supporting the needs of every customer,” added the spokesperson.

Just two days ago, Rogers-owned Fido launched 5G plans for its customers, with existing customers also getting the network upgrade.

Here are the plans from Fido and Koodo at the moment…

Fido

  • $35/20GB
  • $40/80GB
  • $49/80GB Canada-US-Mexico
  • $55/100GB

Koodo

  • $35/20GB
  • $40/80GB
  • $50/80GB Canada-US-Mexico
  • $55/100GB

Again, we’re seeing flanker brands match each other on pricing and network speed, once again (magically).

Update March 12, 2026: In a follow up, iPhone in Canada asked if existing 4G Virgin Plus customers will get a free upgrade to 5G (like what Fido is doing for its 4G customers). The Virgin Plus spokesperson replied, “We recognize huge value in being on a 5G network and we’re always evaluating opportunities to improve our Virgin customer experience.” That sounds like existing 4G customers won’t be getting 5G access (for now).
