YouTube, FIFA Team Up for World Cup 2026

YouTube and FIFA have officially teamed up to transform how fans experience the world’s biggest sporting event. Announced earlier today, YouTube has been named a Preferred Platform for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, will be the largest in history, featuring 48 teams and 104 matches. To meet the needs of a mobile-first audience, YouTube is introducing several “first-ever” features.

For the first time in World Cup history, official media partners and rights holders will have the option to live stream the opening 10 minutes of every single match on their YouTube channels. This “kickoff” feature is designed as a digital teaser to hook fans before directing them to full broadcasts on traditional TV or primary streaming outlets. Additionally, select full matches will be available to stream live on the platform through these partners.

Beyond live match action, the partnership gives fans unprecedented access to football history. FIFA is opening its extensive digital archive, making full-length classic matches and iconic historic moments available on its official YouTube channel.

The deal also places a heavy emphasis on creator-driven storytelling. A global cohort of YouTube creators will be granted “unparalleled access” to the tournament. These personalities will go behind the scenes to capture human stories, tactical breakdowns, and cultural perspectives, offering a fresh lens on the event that traditional broadcasts might miss.

For fans in the United States, YouTube TV will serve as a central hub for coverage. Subscribers can access English-language broadcasts via Fox Sports and Spanish-language coverage through Telemundo.
