WhatsApp Gets Native CarPlay App, Beta Version Available Now

A native version of WhatsApp for CarPlay is currently being tested as a beta. The new app allows users to see their chat list within CarPlay, send messages and initiate calls to anyone within your contacts list.
As first seen by WABetaInfo, the beta version of the WhatsApp CarPlay app is now available. It has a UI similar to the iOS version of the app. You can navigate to the full Chat log, which shows the message threads between you and your contacts.
You can also find your ‘Favorite’ contacts in their own list. Additionally, you’ll find a call log of all the recent incoming and outgoing calls made within the app. The app supports light and dark modes, which can be set depending on your preferences.
Within the app, you can filter between all chat messages and only the unread messages within your log. You can also tap on ‘New Message’ to create a new thread with anyone in your contacts list.
The CarPlay app for WhatsApp is currently available to beta testers who have installed the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS via TestFlight. Enrolling in this program allows users to test the CarPlay app before it rolls out to all users. Within the beta, new features and software are being tested, so users are advised that there may be some bugs. The app also lacks some core features that users may expect in the main WhatsApp app.
Once the app is stable and ready, WhatsApp will release it to the App Store. Though there’s no word on when it may officially launch.
