Netflix Playground App Now Available in Canada, Offering Kid-Friendly Games

Netflix has announced a brand new app, launching in Canada, called Netflix Playground. Available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, Netflix Playground supports a collection of games focused on kids aged eight and below.
In a press release, Netflix explains how it is expanding its foothold within the games industry. Following years of investments in gaming, Netflix Playground is the product of an ad-free experience for subscribers. Within the app, kids and families can play games like Dr. Seuss’s Horton!, Peppa Pig, Bad Dinosaurs, Sesame Street, and more.
“Netflix Playground keeps our growing catalogue of games in one place, giving you more peace of mind and your kids more enjoyable time to play,” the press release reads. Netflix assures users that the new app is completely free to subscribers. There are no in-app purchases nor extra costs. Once installed on iOS or Android, users must simply sign in to their account and find the list of available games. From here, all games can then be installed onto your device.
At launch, there is a handful of titles to enjoy as a family. Netflix states that it will “be continually adding more familiar faces and new friends to the app.”
At launch, Netflix Playground is available in Canada, the US, the UK, Australia, the Phillippines and New Zealand. A global launch is slated later this month on April 28th, The Verge reports.
Netflix Games has been a stable branch of the company since 2021, when the first roster of games was added to the library. Since that time, Netflix has pursued a larger stake in the industry, bringing games to its TV library and purchasing studios like Night School Studio, which closing other development houses. The company is also investing heavily in bringing high-profile games like Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy to its platform.
