Rogers Takes on Square and Moneris with New Red Partner POS Launch
Rogers is moving deeper into the payment processing market with the launch of its Red Partner program, a new setup that bundles point-of-sale hardware with credit card incentives.
The goal is to entice small business owners to switch their payment processing to Rogers by offering lower transaction fees and a way to lure in Rogers credit cardholders.
For shop owners, the main hook is a claim of 20% savings on transaction fees compared to traditional processors (not sure how this is calculated but we’ve reached out for more details). By using Rogers Red POS terminals, which are powered by California-based Clover, businesses can potentially save thousands of dollars annually.
“Rogers Business is proud to be the first in Canada to offer a fully integrated program to support business owners,” said Tom Turner, President, Rogers Business, in a statement to iPhone in Canada. “We know that every cent counts, that’s why this program is vital. It helps lower costs and effectively drive more customers in their doors so business owners can focus on what’s most important — growing their business.”
The program also attempts to gamify local shopping for Rogers customers. Anyone using a Rogers Red credit card at a participating merchant gets a 1% bonus in cash back, totalling 3%.
The program offers three distinct pricing tiers for business owners. The Fixed plan costs $35 per month when bundled with a 3-year business internet contract and features a flat 2.50% credit card transaction fee plus $0.10 for debit. The Standalone option provides a similar flat-rate structure for $40 per month without the internet requirement, though transaction fees are slightly higher at 2.65% for credit and $0.15 for debit.
For higher-volume businesses, the Variable plan costs $45 per month and uses an Interchange plus 0.30% model with a lower $0.08 fee for both credit and debit taps. Every plan includes a Clover Flex or Flex Pocket terminal and access to the Clover Dashboard to manage operations.
Beyond the hardware, the program includes discounts on Rogers-owned radio and digital advertising and a map feature to help customers find shops using the system. Rogers is also launching a new World Elite Business Mastercard that offers 3% back when spent on Rogers services and other perks, coming soon.

Is the 1% bonus in cash back, specifically for the “Rogers Red Mastercard”, which is a specific tier of their suite of credit cards, or is it any of their credit cards in the suite?
