Spotify Lists Most Streamed Artists, Albums of All Time

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Spotify has pulled back the curtain on twenty years of data. For the first time in its history, the platform has released definitive “All-Time” lists, revealing the top artists, albums, songs, and podcasts.

When it comes to the Most Streamed Artist of All Time, Taylor Swift has officially secured the top spot. Her dominance is further proven by having two albums, “Lover” and “Midnights,” on the all-time top 20 list. Close behind her are global stars Bad Bunny, Drake, and The Weeknd.

The Weeknd, however, holds the crown for the single most-streamed song in Spotify history. His 2019 hit “Blinding Lights” has amassed over 5.3 billion streams, followed by Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” and “Sweater Weather” by The Neighbourhood.

The Weeknd also leads the album category with “Starboy” taking the #2 spot, trailing only Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti, which remains the most-streamed album ever.

The Spotify at 20 lists also highlight the massive shift toward spoken-word content. Unsurprisingly, The Joe Rogan Experience remains the most-streamed podcast of all time globally. The list also shows the international reach of Spotify’s podcasting wing, with German hits like Gemischtes Hack and Fest & Flauschig ranking alongside true-crime staples like Crime Junkie.

The data drop is part of a larger Spotify 20 celebration that includes a “20 Days, 20 Data Drops” campaign. Beyond the charts, Spotify is looking back at how its own visual design has evolved, from its early dark mode roots to the iconic green brand it is today.
