Xbox Head Asha Sharma Teases Discord and Game Pass Partnership

Xbox head Asha Sharma is teasing a new collaboration between Discord and Xbox Game Pass, potentially introducing changes to Microsoft’s gaming subscription.
Recently, Sharma confirmed that Xbox and Discord are “teaming up again” on X (formerly Twitter). While not divulging any details on the latest partnership, Sharma notes that the partnership entails continued work to “make Game Pass more flexible for our players.”
It would appear as though Sharma’s message arrived as Xbox and Discord are working in real time to deliver whatever ends up coming from this partnership. “Some of you might start to see some code in the wild,” Sharma says. Thus, it’s likely that we’ll see more details on this partnership in the near furture. Sharma’s message ends with, ” we will share more details with you all soon!”
Shortly after Sharma’s message was published, the official Discord account followed up with their own post. With a graphic featuring the Discord and Xbox Game Pass logos, the company simply said, “Soon.”

It’s hard to gauge exactly what the two companies are working on. Many are speculating that Discord Nitro features might be available through Xbox Game Pass. There are current rumours circulating that Microsoft may offer some sort of à la carte service to Xbox Game Pass, allowing users to choose supplemental perks within the subscription and perhaps Discord Nitro becomes one of those options.
Earlier this week, Microsoft cut the pricing of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Moving forward, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate now costs $25.99 per month (down from $33.99). The caveat to the latest price cut is that Microsoft is removing day-one access for all new Call of Duty titles. While retaining day-one inclusions for all other first-party games, future Call of Duty games will be added in the following holiday season (approximately one year after launch).
