Mac Studio and Mac Mini May be Difficult to Find for Months, Apple Confirms

Apple said during its earnings call for the second fiscal quarter of 2026 that stock of its Mac Studio and Mac mini will be hard to come by for the next few months.

At a point during the call, Apple CEO Tim Cook came out and said, “We think, looking forward, that the ‌Mac mini‌ and ‌Mac Studio‌ may take several months to reach supply demand balance.” Cook cites underestimated demand for the Mac Studio and Mac mini, as first reported by MacRumors. 

Cook went on to say, “Both of these are amazing platforms for AI and agentic tools, and the customer recognition of that is happening faster than what we had predicted, and so we saw higher than expected demand.”

Apple is facing significant shipping delays for both the Mac Studio and the Mac mini. For instance, ordering the M4 Max Mac Studio with base components like 48GB of RAM will take an expected 16 to 18 weeks to fulfill. When attempting to order a Mac mini with the M4 chip, Apple’s website simply reads “Currently unavailable.”

As of the time of writing, there doesn’t necessarily seem to be a solution in sight. Both products are far more niche products within Apple’s catalogue, despite what appears to be significant demand. \

Earlier this year, Apple announced its plans to begin building the Mac mini in the US to skirt tariffs. Apple is retrofitting an old warehouse into a 20,000 square feet of dedicated manufacturing space for the Mac mini. This facility will be close to a building dedicated to assembling Apple’s high-end AI servers.
