iPhone 17 Becomes Best-Selling Smartphone in Q1 2026
According to the latest market research from Counterpoint Research, the iPhone 17 has officially claimed the title of the world’s best-selling smartphone for the first quarter of 2026.
This achievement comes as the top 10 best-selling devices globally captured a staggering 25% of the total market share, indicating a trend where consumers are gravitating toward a select few premium and mid-range models.
The data shows that the base iPhone 17 was the clear winner, followed closely by the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the iPhone 17 Pro. Interestingly, the previous year’s iPhone 16 also maintained a strong presence in the top 10 list, suggesting that Apple’s older models continue to hold significant value for budget-conscious buyers.
While Apple dominated the high-end segments, Samsung continues to be a formidable force, particularly in the entry-level and mid-range categories. The South Korean tech giant secured several spots in the top 10, primarily driven by its Galaxy A-series. These devices remain incredibly popular in emerging markets across Asia and Latin America.
Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra also made a notable appearance on the list. As the primary competitor to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the S26 Ultra’s inclusion shows that there is still a robust market for high-end Android devices that push the boundaries of camera technology and display quality.
Industry analysts suggest that the rumour of a mid-cycle refresh for several brands could shake up the rankings in the coming quarters. However, with the iPhone 17’s strong start, Apple appears well-positioned to maintain its lead throughout the year.
