Pokémon TCG Pocket Crosses 200 Million Downloads on iOS and Android

Blue Bowser charges at a neon-green fighter in a ruined coliseum, with red and blue energy trails swirling around them.

Pokémon TCG Pocket has officially hit 200 million downloads across iOS and Android. The popular mobile game has managed to capture an extensive audience, crossing the milestone a year and a half after launch.

Announced on X (formerly Twitter), the official account for the game says, “Pokémon TCG Pocket has surpassed 200 million downloads worldwide.” The post continues to thank the community. “The support of everyone who has played since the game’s release has been amazing, and we hope you all continue to enjoy Pokémon TCG Pocket in the future as well.”

Pokémon TCG Pocket is a free-to-play mobile game that replicates the traditional trading card game. The game provides players with the chance to open daily packs, trade with friends, and battle AI opponents and other players online.

Over the course of its lifespan, Pokémon TCG Pocket has continually been updated with new expansions and in-game events. On nearly a monthly cadence, the game has new content to incentivize players to log in each day and collect new cards. Whether its the latest Pulsing Aura expansion, adding Mega Lucario ex or the new Raid Packs, Pokémon TCG Pocket has an impressive amount of updates all available to engage with for free.

Given the fact that this year is the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, I expect to see many more exciting expansions hit the game later this year. With a lot of buzz surrounding any 30th anniversary sets for the core TCG game, many believe Pokémon TCG Pocket will also celebrate in a big way. With 200 million downloads, there’s very little reason to believe the game will be slowing down any time soon.
