WhatsApp iOS Users Can Now Share Documents With Meta AI

WhatsApp is introducing the ability for iOS users to share documents with Meta AI. This will theoretically allow the AI assistant to help analyze and provide insight into shared documents.

According to WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp 26.20.10.72 beta includes the ability to share documents. This is now rolling out to users within TestFlight, allowing beta testers to be the first to try out the feature.

As indicated in the report, when sharing a document with Meta AI, WhatsApp users on iOS will receive more accurate and relevant information from the AI assistant about what’s shared. Rather than having to copy and paste information to share, Meta AI can read a document thoroughly and provide more contextual and relevant information.

If a query includes a question relevant to the document, Meta AI can parse the document and provide step-by-step solutions and targeted answers.

Previously, WhatsApp users had to share an image or a document screenshot with Meta AI so it could scour for information. Now, iOS will have a much easier time sharing information with the AI assistant in the iPhone app.

As of the time of writing, the feature is only available to “some beta testers,” according to the report. However, WABetaInfo notes that “it is rolling out to more users over the coming weeks.” That said, “a limited number of users may also be able to test” the feature within the App Store version of WhatsApp. Often, WhatsApp allows non-beta testers to try new features before a wider rollout.

The ability to share documents with Meta AI within WhatsApp is also rolling out to WhatsApp beta for Android. The recent support on iOS is catching up to that on a Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel device.
