Google’s June Feature Drop Finally Lets Android Share Files With iPhone Like AirDrop

Google just dropped its June 2026 Android Feature Drop, and the one of the main features is something a lot of people have been waiting for, especially if your inner circle is a mix of iOS and Android.

Quick Share now works natively with Apple AirDrop. That means select Android users can send photos, videos, and large files directly to an iPhone without needing an internet connection, working peer to peer. No more compressed garbage files, no more waiting. It just works across platforms.

Google says AirDrop support is rolling out to more devices. On the Samsung side, that covers the full Galaxy S26, S25, and S24 lineups, plus the Z Flip7, Z Flip6, Z Fold7, Z Fold6, Z Fold6 Special Edition, and the Z TriFold. Google’s devices include the entire Pixel 10 and Pixel 9 families, plus the Pixel 8a.

Support also extends to the Xiaomi 17T Pro, OnePlus 15, OPPO Find X9 series and Find N6, Vivo X300 series, and the HONOR Magic V6. The Motorola razr fold 2026, OPPO Find X8 series, and HONOR Magic8 Pro are listed as coming soon.

On the security side, the Phone by Google app is getting fake call detection for devices running Android 12 and up. It can verify whether an incoming call is actually coming from a contact’s device, and will throw up a warning if someone is spoofing a number you trust. Scammers have been doing this for years, so any feature to improve security is always welcome (no one can be trusted nowadays, not even mom).

Circle to Search is getting smarter too as it can now recognize full outfits on Android 14 and newer. You can circle someone’s entire look and pull up individual clothing items without jumping between apps. Google Photos is also getting a digital closet feature for select users, letting you catalog your actual clothes and mix and match outfits virtually.

For bookworms, Google Play Books is adding an AI reading companion that can offer book insights, page recaps, and context for English titles.

Families get some useful updates as well. Kids under 13 can now access the Personal Safety app, which lets them display medical info on their lock screen and has car crash detection that can automatically call emergency services. Teens are getting real-time location sharing and safety check-ins.

Google says rollouts start this week across eligible devices. Google also says more features are already in the pipeline for Android 17.
