Pokémon Champions Coming Soon to iOS, Android

After making its debut on the Nintendo Switch, the Pokémon Company’s battle-centric title Pokémon Champions is arriving on the App Store and Google Play on June 17, 2026.

The game’s iOS and Android version will be a free-to-start title, though it will feature optional in-game purchases like Battle Passes and various resources. Cross-platform play will also be a core feature of the release.

For those who have already started their journey on a Nintendo console, there is no need to worry about losing progress. By linking the mobile app to a Nintendo Account, players can carry over their save data and continue where they left off. To play, a steady internet connection is required, as the game focuses heavily on real-time multiplayer competition.

To celebrate the mobile debut, The Pokémon Company is launching a special distribution event. From June 17 through September 2, 2026, trainers can check their in-game mailbox on either mobile or Switch to receive a free Raichu along with two brand-new Mega Stones: Raichunite X and Raichunite Y.

These items allow Raichu to Mega Evolve into two distinct forms:

  • Mega Raichu X: This form gains the Electric Surge ability. When it enters the fray, it turns the ground into Electric Terrain for five turns. This terrain gives a 30% power boost to Electric-type moves for grounded Pokémon and prevents any Pokémon on the field from falling asleep.
  • Mega Raichu Y: This form utilizes the No Guard ability. This ensures that every move used by or against Mega Raichu Y has 100% accuracy, making powerful but inaccurate moves like Thunder far more reliable.

While Raichu can be caught through other means, these specific Mega Stones are currently exclusive to this window, though they may appear in the shop at a later date.

Pokémon Champions is designed to be a dedicated battle simulator, similar in spirit to the classic Pokémon Stadium titles. It allows players to pull in Pokémon they have befriended in other games via Pokémon HOME, including those caught in Pokémon GO or the main RPG series.
