Apple Shows Off New Siri AI That Can Search Your Files and Messages
Apple has unveiled a redesigned Siri powered by its next-generation Apple Intelligence platform, transforming the voice assistant into a more conversational AI that can handle complex tasks across iPhone, iPad and Mac.
During WWDC, Apple demonstrated how Siri can now engage in back-and-forth conversations, helping users plan events, brainstorm ideas, analyze information and complete tasks across apps.
Rather than answering a single question, Siri can maintain context throughout a conversation and build on previous requests.
In one demonstration, Siri helped plan a World Cup watch party. The assistant pulled match information, suggested dishes from Brazil and Morocco, searched messages to find a dessert recommendation from a family member, created a themed menu and drafted a message to invite friends to a group chat.
Apple says Siri combines world knowledge, personal content and app actions to complete requests.
On iPhone, users can access the new Siri by speaking to it, using the side button or typing directly through a new interface accessible from the Dynamic Island area.
On Mac, Siri is now integrated directly into Spotlight.
Apple says users can ask questions from Spotlight, start conversations with Siri and continue them across multiple requests without leaving their current workflow.
The company also showed how Siri can analyze files and documents stored on a Mac.
In one example, Siri compared multiple contractor quotes that were formatted differently and generated a table highlighting key differences. The assistant then searched messages and emails to find details about an electrical issue before recommending the best contractor for the project.
Siri can also create content on a user’s behalf. Apple demonstrated the assistant drafting an email to a contractor requesting faster delivery, automatically pulling relevant details from previous conversations and documents.
According to Apple, the new Siri works across personal content, web information and third-party apps, allowing it to complete more sophisticated tasks than previous versions.
The company says the upgrade is powered by its new Apple Intelligence architecture, which combines personal context, app actions and on-screen awareness while maintaining Apple’s privacy-focused approach.
Apple described the new Siri as one of the most significant updates ever made to the assistant, bringing advanced AI capabilities directly into iPhone, iPad and Mac.
