Google has refreshed its AI subscription offerings, bringing price reductions and increased storage capacity to its popular AI Plus tier. The update, which goes into effect today, June 8, 2026, simplifies the subscription structure for users across Canada and beyond.

The Google AI Plus plan now costs $6.99 CAD per month and includes 400 GB of storage (was 200GB).

Existing Google One Premium subscribers are also seeing changes to their service, according to an email received by iPhone in Canada. These users have had their plans renamed to Google AI Plus. While the name has changed, these subscribers will retain their 2 TB of storage alongside new benefits.

A major part of this update is a new way of managing usage limits within the Gemini app. Google is moving to a compute-based model that considers factors like prompt complexity, specific features being used, and the overall length of a conversation. These limits will refresh every five hours, up to a set weekly cap. As an AI Plus subscriber, you now receive double the usage limits compared to those using the free version of the service.

Google is also changed how AI credits work across its ecosystem. While the previous 200 monthly AI credits are being phased out, the company notes that the new usage limit model is designed to maintain a consistent experience.

For power users, Google continues to offer higher-tier options. The Google AI Pro plan, priced at $26.99 CAD per month, offers 5 TB of storage and includes access to the company’s Pro model and YouTube Premium Lite.

At the top end, the Google AI Ultra plan starts at $139.99 CAD per month, providing 20 TB of storage, YouTube Premium individual, and early access to the latest features.

Vikas Kansal, Product lead, Gemini AI subscriptions, said on Monday on X, “We’re updating the price of our Google AI Plus plan to $4.99/month or local equivalent (down from $7.99 US), and doubling the included storage, from 200GB to 400GB. Now you can unlock tools to boost your productivity and creativity – and get more sace to store your photos, videos and projects – for less.”
