Instagram to Allow Users to Reorder Posts on Profile Grid

Instagram is now allowing users to rearrange and reorder their posts within the profile grid. Access to this feature is reportedly rolling out incrementally to users.

The update began rolling out on June 8th. Some users have been able to access this feature already within the Instagram app. The company announced the feature, saying, “You can move posts around on your Instagram grid starting this week.”

As shown in a video, users can go to their profile and long-press on any post within their profile grid. From here, Instagram now offers a ‘reorder grid’ option. Once selected, users can drag and drop a post to reorder their grid. Changes are then saved and are reflected within the profile grid for others to see.

The default for Instagram has always been a reverse chronological order. The only customization option for users has been the ability to pin up to 3 posts. These posts then live in perpetuity at the top of the grid, no matter when they were posted. Pinned posts still remain at the top of the grid, even if posts are reorganized.

Instagram’s latest feature is rolling out across iOS and Android. It appears the feature may be reaching select users ahead of a broader release. Anecdotally, I don’t have access to the feature on iOS.
