Fido Hits Recent Promo Customers With a Price Hike After Just 3 Months

Fido customers are seeing a $4 price hike show up on their bills, and a lot of them are not happy about it, especially since some only signed up a few months ago.

The complaints started piling up on the r/FidoMobile subreddit this week, with one user laying out exactly what happened.

“I got 4 lines transferred to Fido from Telus in March this year and got the $25/80GB Canada/US/Mexico plans. Just got a message on my June statement saying they’ll be a price increase of $4 plus tax on each line in July. This is ridiculous! Price increase in 3 months only!!!! Very frustrating! And the data speed is very slow in many areas in GTA. The network seems to be very congested most of the time during the day.”

Back in March, Big 3 flanker brands launched $25/80GB promo plans that included US-Mexico roaming. That promo pricing didn’t last long. Typically it would be 12 to 24 months, but now the price is jumping just after three months.

Fido’s actual explanation, included as a note on the billing statement, points to network investment as the reason for the hike.

“We continuously invest in our network to bring you fast, reliable Canada-wide 5G coverage. To help support these investments, the monthly fee for your mobile price plan will increase by $4 (plus taxes), starting with your next bill, on or after July 15, 2026,” the note reads. “This will appear as an additional line item under Monthly Charges on your monthly bill called Mobile Plan Rate Adjustment. The rest of your mobile services remain the same.”

The increase isn’t limited to one specific plan either. Other users in the thread reported the same $4 bump on different price points, including the $24, $28, and $29 plans. “I am on the $24 plan and i got this price increase too. Typical Rogers behaviour,” one commenter wrote, referring to Fido’s parent company.

Another user summed up the frustration over the short timeline. “Even so, it’s a bait and switch after 3 months only,” they wrote.

Some commenters suggested jumping ship altogether, pointing to Koodo’s winback offers or Freedom Mobile as alternatives that haven’t raised prices the same way.

If you jumped on this promo plan from Fido back in March–you may want to check your billing statement for any price increases. Let us know in the comments if you’re affected by this.
