Xbox Prices in Canada Are About to Jump Again. Here’s What to Buy Before August 1.
Microsoft is bumping up Xbox prices again. Starting August 1, 2026, the 512GB models go up by $100 US (about $142 CAD after exchange rates) and the 1TB models go up by $150 US (about $213 CAD after exchange rates). The 2TB model is also getting discontinued entirely.
This isn’t the first time this has happened either. Back in October, Xbox prices already jumped by $20 to $70 in the US. Microsoft says it really didn’t want to raise prices again and spent months trying to find another way around it with suppliers, but storage and memory costs have gone up more than 2.5 times, and they’re expecting prices to double again by fall 2027.
We’ll find out the Canadian pricing for these price increases soon, so stay tuned.
The whole consumer electronics industry is dealing with this component shortage right now (hello Apple price increases), but consoles are getting hit especially hard. Unlike phones or laptops, consoles usually aren’t sold for a profit in the first place, companies sell them at a loss and make money back through games and subscriptions, so when component costs spike like this, there’s nowhere left to absorb it.
To soften the blow, Microsoft is rolling out a few ways to make consoles more affordable:
You can now use Buy Now, Pay Later on eligible Xbox hardware through Microsoft Stores, splitting your payment into interest-free installments. If you buy through Amazon, you can get 0% APR financing for up to 12 months instead.
Microsoft is also working with retail partners on trade-in programs, so if you’ve got an old console lying around, you’ll be able to trade it in for cash or store credit, and those traded-in consoles will get resold at a lower price. On top of that, Certified Refurbished Xbox consoles are already available at Microsoft Stores for up to $100 US off MSRP.
If you’re looking for the cheapest way in, the Xbox Series S is still your best bet, and there’s a solid lineup of games coming this year to make it worth it, including Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Gears of War: E-Day, Grand Theft Auto VI, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and Madden NFL 27, according to Microsoft.
Here are Xbox prices in Canada as of June 25, 2026:

Series X
Okay, so it looks like the memory and component shortages due to the AI boom continue to wreak havoc on electronics. Your best bet is to find these available before the price hikes or hit up Facebook Marketplace. Amazon.ca still has the Series S in stock at these prices but you’ll have to find the Series X from other retailers.
