Google Confirms August Pixel Event to Reveal New Generation
Google has officially sent out invitations for a major product launch event taking place in New York City on August 12.
The event, which is scheduled to begin at 3 PM PT/6 PM ET (that’s unusually late in the day), will serve as the stage for the company to unveil its next generation of Pixel hardware.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared the details of the invite today, highlighting the company’s push for a live, interactive reveal in NYC.
“Come celebrate with us in NYC on August 12. It’s the night the next generation of Pixel arrives, and we want you there, live and in person, for it,” reads the invitation.
So what’s rumoured for Google’s Pixel 11 lineup? Google reportedly plans to ditch the 128GB base storage tier completely, bumping the entry point up to 256GB instead. That switch is expected to push prices up by around $100 US or so. We’ve already seen some alleged leaks shared back in the spring.
As for the design itself, it’s rumoured to stay pretty close to what we saw last generation, so don’t expect a major overhaul. One fresh addition could be something called Pixel Glow, an RGB notification lighting setup built right into the camera module. Under the hood, the phones are said to run on the 2nm Tensor G6 chip. Google is reportedly going with four models this time around, made up of the standard Pixel 11, the Pro, the Pro XL, and a Pro Fold.
