Xbox has unexpectedly pulled the imminent release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 from Game Pass. The game was set to be rolled out on the subscription service on July 21st.
In a now-updated Xbox Wire blog post, an editor’s note now reads that “We’ve removed Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 from the list of titles coming soon to Game Pass.” The company has also edited July 2026 Wave 2’s Xbox Game Pass banner, removing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2.
No explanation has been given for the sudden removal of the game. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 was supposed to release alongside games like the 1.0 version of Palworld. Gears of War: Reloaded also arrived on Xbox Game Pass Premium. The Planet Crafter and Ascend to Zero are also included in the latest wave.
Xbox owns Activision, the publisher of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, ensuring that the game can come and go on Game Pass as it pleases. In 2025, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 arrived on Xbox Game Pass without issue. In fact, the game is still available on Game Pass.
A likely issue Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 faces as it approaches its Xbox Game Pass release centers on licensing. The game features over 50 songs, 22 of which are legacy tracks from the game’s original versions. If any or all of the music licences are set to expire soon, there’s a good chance that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 may have been pulled from the Xbox Game Pass roster. Moreso, there’s also a chance the game could be delisted entirely from the Xbox Store.
Others have then taken to the idea that this may be a sign for Xbox Game Pass’ future. This news is coupled alongside the earlier news that new Call of Duty titles will no longer be available as day-one releases on Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. The sudden and unexplained removal of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 may indicate a slight shift in how Xbox is managing its first-party portfolio on Game Pass going forward.
