Apple has officially added the latest iPad mini to its certified refurbished store in Canada. Those looking for a deal on the A17 Pro model can now save a decent amount of cash compared to buying a brand new tablet.
Looking at Apple.ca, the refurbished 128GB Wi-Fi version is currently listed for $709. That works out to a $140 discount off the regular retail price of $849. Originally released back in October 2024, the nearly two-year old iPad mini runs on the A17 Pro chip. It features an 8.3-inch screen, Touch ID, and a 12-megapixel camera. Available colours include Purple, Blue, Starlight, and Space Grey.
Every certified refurbished unit from Apple comes with a brand new battery and a fresh outer shell. You get a new white box alongside all manuals and charging cables. You also get the exact same one-year warranty and 15-day return policy as a standard new purchase.
Of course, these refurbished units have gone live in Canada on the same day Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said an iPad mini refresh is coming this fall. Apple will likely increase prices on the new iPad mini due to the memory shortages right now, so buying refurbished is never a bad idea.

Insanely expensive for a sub-10″ tablet. I mean, even by Apple standards. Regardless of chip involved.
Given the likely usage of a smaller tablet – a PDA; some lightweight internet; email; eBook, news and aggregator apps reader; music and video streaming / playback; sketching and some photo manipulation; some gaming; and maybe some ‘Office’ work (in a pinch) – but then to put it an awkwardly shaped package with no user-expandable memory and charge the price they do? Crazy.
Then again, here’s me – otherwise in the Apple ‘environment’ – but with a Lenovo M8 I picked up at a end-of-model flash sale for $99. Does all of the above – and more. Runs over 95% of the same 3rd Party apps as my iPhone and syncs with my important PDA features from iCloud. Easily tossable into my shoulder bag or even larger coat pocket. And I won’t see my bank account flash before my eyes should it slip and fall out of my hands.
