Rogers vs Telus vs Bell: Ookla Names Canada’s Fastest Network in 2026
Bell dominated mobile and home internet performance across Canada during the first half of 2026, according to network intelligence data released by Ookla on Tuesday.
The carrier earned top national recognition for Best Mobile Network and Best 5G Network overall. On mobile devices, Bell users experienced a median download speed of 120.67 Mbps, while its 5G network delivered a median download speed of 169.74 Mbps.
When looking at Ookla’s mobile breakdown, Bell pure fibre led the country for fixed broadband, securing awards for Best Internet overall and Fastest Fixed Network. The fibre optic connection delivered a median download speed of 393.34 Mbps and a median upload speed of 334.95 Mbps, offering plenty of bandwidth for heavy daily streaming and large file transfers.
Gamers also saw impressive performance on both mobile and fixed lines. Bell claimed national awards for Best Mobile Gaming Experience and Best 5G Gaming Experience, while Bell pure fibre took the top spot for fixed gaming performance.
Rogers took home the award for Best 5G Availability for mobile networks, while Telus won the Best Fixed Video Experience for fixed internet.
Looking at the Best Mobile Network Speedtest Connectivity Score below, it looks like a pretty close race but Bell just edged out Telus and Rogers, according to Ookla:
Network performance varied by region across major metro areas. Vancouver took first place for mobile performance with a median download speed of 145.39 Mbps. Edmonton took top honours for home internet, posting a median fixed download speed of 324.77 Mbps.
Testing cellular and home speeds across Western Canada recently shows that these top rankings for Vancouver and Edmonton match real-world daily performance closely.
