GTA 6 Gameplay, Full Map Leaked by Hacker Protesting Digital Pre-Orders
A hacker operating under the name Cyberleek has leaked fresh gameplay footage and complete in-game map for GTA 6. According to content creator NikTek, the leak is an explicit protest against the industry push toward digital-only sales and digital pre-orders (via Tom’s Hardware).
GTA 6 developer Rockstar Games decided not to include a physical game disc inside the game’s retail boxes. Instead, physical copies sold at stores will only contain a download code. That move has now triggered a major response from Cyberleek, who claims to have taken matters into their own hands.
The hacker has also released a detailed manifesto alongside the leaked files, demanding a public apology from Rockstar Games and calling for an end to digital pre-sales across the industry.
“No consumer shall pay for a game through digital storefronts before release and independent review. Physical preorders for tangible media remain permitted. Preorders were not created for gamers. They were created because physical discs had manufacturing limits. In digital distribution, there is no inventory. There is no stock shortage. A digital copy cannot sell out. Yet publishers kept the preorder system and stripped away its only consumer benefit. Now gamers pay early and receive nothing in return except a countdown timer and a cosmetic skin,” Cyberleek stated on their website. “If publishers want revenue before launch, they can press discs. Print boxes. Put them on shelves. Earn that money through physical production.”
The manifesto outlined two additional demands that resonate with broader gaming community concerns. First, Cyberleek argued that publishers must stop selling single-player content as separate downloadable add-ons when the code is already present in the base game. Second, the hacker demanded that single-player content must remain fully playable even after official server support shuts down.
The leaked materials give fans a detailed look at what to expect in the upcoming title. The footage shows playable basketball minigames, customizable vehicle loadouts, and interactive car trunks that open and close. Characters also feature a stamina meter and an honor system similar to the mechanics in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Meanwhile, the leaked map covers the entire fictional state of Leonida. It shows five distinct counties, a large railway network, and a scattered array of small islands available for player exploration.
While some creators noted that the leaked builds might be over a year old, Rockstar Games quickly issued DMCA takedown requests against social media posts sharing the content. This swift legal action strongly suggests the materials are legitimate developmental footage from the game.
