Xbox and IKEA Are Teasing a New Gaming Furniture Collaboration

Xbox and IKEA are teaming up on what appears to be a gaming-inspired furniture and household accessories collection.
The two companies have begun teasing a new furniture collaboration through their official social media channels. While neither Xbox nor IKEA has revealed the full collection yet, a short teaser offers an early glimpse at some distinctly Xbox-inspired designs.
One product appears to be a bright green cushion shaped like an Xbox controller’s D-pad. Another is significantly larger and resembles an oversized analogue stick, complete with a glossy ring around its edge. Based on its size and shape, it could potentially serve as a stool or small table.
Reports have suggested the entire collection could be unveiled during Gamescom, which kicks off later this month in Cologne, Germany. Some of the speculation appears to stem from an unofficial image circulating online rather than an announcement from either company.
It wouldn’t be IKEA’s first attempt at gaming-focused furniture, either. The Swedish retailer already sells gaming desks, chairs and accessories, with several products originally developed through a collaboration with ASUS’ ROG brand.
For Xbox, meanwhile, the partnership adds another unusual collaboration to an increasingly long list. The company has previously put its branding on everything from refrigerators to a toaster, so furniture probably shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
Neither Xbox nor IKEA has announced pricing or availability for the collection. More details are expected once the collaboration is fully revealed. It currently remains to be seen how big the collection will be and when the products might be released in Canada.
