Acer is going big on screen size without compromising on a lightweight design with its Swift Air 16. The new laptop is a Copilot+ PC built around AMD’s Ryzen AI platform.
Despite carrying a 16-inch display, the Swift Air 16 weighs as little as 0.99kg (2.18 pounds) with its IPS display. Opting for the higher-end AMOLED screen increases that slightly to 1.1kg (2.43 pounds). Acer accomplishes this using a magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis measuring as little as 15.9mm thick.
Inside, configurations run up to AMD’s Ryzen AI 7 350 processor with integrated Radeon 860M graphics, 32GB of LPDDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD. As a Copilot+ PC, the Swift Air 16 also supports Microsoft’s growing collection of Windows AI features, including Recall, Click to Do and improved Windows Search. Microsoft has steadily expanded its Copilot+ features to AMD-powered PCs, including Live Captions, Cocreator and additional image-generation tools.
Acer offers two main display configurations. The standout is a 16-inch 2880 x 1800 AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 400 nits of brightness and 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage. A lighter WUXGA IPS model drops to 1920 x 1200 and 60Hz.
Other hardware includes a 2MP FHD IR camera with Windows Hello, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, two USB-C ports, USB-A and HDMI 1.4. The 50Wh battery is rated for up to 13 hours of video playback.
Acer originally announced the Swift Air 16 at IFA 2025, with European availability beginning that November at €999. Acer Canada now lists the Swift Air 16 on its Canadian website, suggesting the ultralight hasn’t been forgotten here. However, Acer’s Canadian store does not currently list the AMD model for purchase, and Canadian pricing hasn’t been announced.
The Swift Air 16 remains an interesting proposition simply because 16-inch laptops rarely qualify as something I’d willingly carry around all day. At under 1kg, Acer has at least addressed that problem directly. With a portable design and a Ryzen AI 7 350 processor, Acer seems to be targeting a MacBook Air user with its Swift Air 16. It’s a prospect that has already piqued my interest.
