Meta Just Launched Muse, a Personal AI Agent That Can Spend Your Money. Not in Canada.

Canadians hunting for Meta’s newest AI toy are going to hit a wall. Muse, the company’s personal AI agent that can manage email, book dinners, track budgets, and buy things with your OK, is live on the US App Store as a free download with in-app purchases. Canada’s App Store does not list it yet.

Meta’s own design write-up at introducing.muse.ai frames Muse as an agent that actually gets work done, not another chat box that waits for you to poke it. The App Store pitch is blunt: it manages email, books dinners, tracks budgets, and finds deals, always with your approval. Under the hood it gets its own cloud computer with a browser, file system, and terminal so it can search the web, fill forms, complete purchases, and keep working after you close the app.

That is a different product from the standalone Meta AI app already available in Canada. Meta AI is the chat, voice, and Ray-Ban glasses companion many people here already use. Muse is the agentic layer: connectors for email, calendar, Instagram, Facebook, health data, and finances; structured approval cards before it sends a message or spends money; Goals tracking; and a secure VM with a Sentinel that Meta says the agent cannot override. Meta’s safety post goes deep on isolation, credential surrogation, and human-in-the-loop purchase checks, including single-use card numbers via partners like Stripe Link at checkout.

Capability-wise, Meta says Muse can juggle long-running goals in the background, watch school emails or district sites, load shopping carts, hunt price drops, audit subscriptions, and coach health and fitness from data you choose to share. It asks before irreversible moves like sending mail or completing a purchase. The company ties the experience to its Muse Spark model family, the same stack that already powers pieces of the Meta AI app after Meta’s Muse Spark rollout across Facebook and Instagram.

For Canadians already living in other assistants, the gap is how far the agent is allowed to go. ChatGPT’s agent mode is the closest consumer parallel here: browser-style tasks for Plus and Pro users. Grok Bot is another agent Canadians can already try, with cloud teammates that take real work rather than just chat. Gemini and Apple Intelligence stay closer to on-device help and conversation. Claude is still the power chat and computer-use pick. None of them are pitched as Meta’s spend-and-email life agent with Instagram and Facebook connectors baked in.

Until Meta flips Canada on, the practical takeaway is simple. Muse’s agent loop, with money and mail sitting behind approval cards, is still a US-store story for now.
