Meta AI App Launches in Canada–Remembers Everything About You

Meta just launched a new standalone app for Meta AI, its personal AI assistant that can learn your preferences, remember details, and give you customized help. It’s available now in Canada.

The app also has a “Discover” feed where you can explore how other people are using AI or share your own experiments. It’s now the main app for Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, so you can pick up conversations on your phone right where you left off with your glasses.

This is the first version of the app, powered by Meta’s latest Llama 4 AI model. Meta AI has already been built into WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger, but now there’s a standalone app focused heavily on voice conversations.

Meta AI learns from what you share, like your interests or favourite activities, and gives responses based on that. If you connect your Facebook and Instagram accounts, the personalization gets even deeper. You can even tell it things like “I love to travel” and it will remember.

Voice chat is a big part of the new app. You can talk to Meta AI and full-duplex speech technology makes it sound natural. For now, the app can’t pull data from the web yet. Voice features are available in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

The web version of Meta AI has been upgraded with a new look for bigger screens, better tools for generating and editing images, and a document editor that’s being tested in some countries. You’ll be able to create full documents with text and images, and save them as PDFs. There’s also a tool being tested where you can upload documents for Meta AI to read and understand.

For people with Ray-Ban Meta glasses, the old Meta View app is being merged into the new Meta AI app. Once updated, your devices, settings, and saved media will all transfer over. You’ll be able to start a conversation on your glasses and pick it up later on your phone or computer, although you can’t start on the app and move it to your glasses yet.

So in a nutshell, Meta AI’s purpose is to learn everything about you no matter where you’re using the AI assistant. How much info are you going to share with Meta AI? With OpenAI’s ChatGPT having a standalone app, and Google’s Gemini, it was only a matter of time before Meta would do the same, and here we are.
