Watch iPhone 18 Pro Face the Ultimate Destruction Test [VIDEO]

Following the rollout of the iPhone 18 Pro, Taras Maksimuk from YouTube channel TechRax subjected Apple’s latest top-tier phone to his signature torture treatment i.e. a box cutter knife followed by heavy strikes from a metal hammer.

Apple continues to market its custom Ceramic Shield front glass as the toughest cover glass on any smartphone, emphasizing improved drop resistance and everyday scratch protection. But as TechRax routinely demonstrates, synthetic glass lab ratings mean very little when faced with direct blunt-force trauma from heavy hardware.

Maksimuk starts the evaluation using a sharp box cutter knife, dragging the blade repeatedly across the titanium frame, rear camera bump, and back glass panel. While the blade leaves expected cosmetic scuffs and metal shavings along the outer edges, the rear glass holds up surprisingly well against surface scratches.

Next comes the hammer. Maksimuk starts with small, controlled drops from a few inches above the screen. The iPhone 18 Pro display easily absorbs these initial impacts without showing any hairline cracks or touch response issues, proving that normal domestic bumps and drops onto carpeted or wooden floors are unlikely to destroy the front glass.

As expected from TechRax, the test quickly escalates from moderate drops to full force swings. Once Maksimuk begins applying actual downward force with the heavy metal hammer head, the Ceramic Shield glass finally reaches its breaking point. The front cover shatters into a spiderweb of deep cracks centered around the direct impact point.
