Pokémon-Like RPG ‘Aniimo’ Launches on iOS and Android After Huge PC and Console Debut

One of the year’s biggest new creature-catching games is now available on iPhone. Pawprint Studio launched Aniimo on iOS and Android one week after the free-to-play open-world RPG arrived on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Aniimo was first revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase in 2025, drawing obvious comparisons to Pokémon and Palworld. In Aniimo, players explore the open world of Idyll while capturing more than 200 creatures called Aniimo. Its main twist is the “Twining” mechanic, which lets players merge with collected creatures and directly use their abilities for combat, traversal and puzzle solving.

The game has already attracted a sizeable audience. Aniimo climbed beyond 100,000 concurrent Steam players shortly after launch, with third-party trackers recording a peak above 130,000. It has also remained among Steam’s top sellers despite being free-to-play, with in-game purchases contributing to its ranking.

Steam currently lists more than 8,000 reviews, around 74 percent of which are positive. Early reception was considerably more mixed, with some players criticizing the game’s monetization model. However, the game is being recognized more positively for its art style and combat.

The mobile release isn’t a separate version, either. Pawprint says iPhone and Android support full cross-platform play and cross-progression with PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Players can sign into the same account and carry over their progress, resources and party lineup between devices. There’s also online co-op, PvP and a Homeland system where players can build and decorate a home, farm resources and interact with collected Aniimo.

The iPhone release gives Aniimo another potentially massive audience while also filling a notable gap left by Pokémon, whose mainline games remain exclusive to Nintendo hardware.

Aniimo is available now as a free download on the App Store, with in-app purchases. It’s also available on Android, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
