iPad Mini 8 Leak Confirms Massive Upgrades, October Launch

Uncovered by MacRumors, official assets buried within Apple software have exposed key details about the upcoming iPad mini 8, confirming major hardware upgrades and design changes ahead of an expected launch in October.

According to the discovered software references, the iPad Mini 8 will pack Apple’s top-tier A20 Pro chip. Bringing a Pro-series silicon chipset to Apple’s smallest tablet line represents a substantial jump in processing power, graphics capabilities, and on-device machine learning performance.

Beyond the internal processing bump, the leaked assets detail significant structural and design changes to the tablet’s body. The front-facing camera has been shifted to the long edge of the display, making the iPad Mini 8 the final tablet model in Apple’s lineup to make the transition to a landscape front camera orientation. This layout adjustment provides a far more natural video calling experience during FaceTime calls.

The leaked product images also showcase an updated top bezel. The display glass now features a small cutout groove at the top, resembling the receiver design found on modern iPhone models. This visual change aligns directly with recent reports from Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, who previously noted that the next iPad Mini would feature an updated vibration-based speaker system along with improved water resistance ratings.

Despite the new front layout and speaker system, the physical power button and volume controls will remain along the top edge of the casing.

Rumours surrounding the upcoming release also point to a slightly larger display panel, with strong indications that Apple will adopt an OLED screen to offer deeper black levels, richer contrast, and better battery efficiency.
