Microsoft has opened Canadian pre-orders for the Surface Laptop Ultra, its most powerful Surface Laptop yet, with pricing starting at $3,899.99 CAD and deliveries beginning October 16.
The 15-inch laptop is powered by NVIDIA’s new RTX Spark platform, which Microsoft first detailed in June. NVIDIA unveiled RTX Spark at Computex 2026 as an Arm-based chip combining a Grace CPU, Blackwell RTX graphics and unified memory on a single package.
The base Surface Laptop Ultra includes an RTX Spark N1X chip with an 18-core CPU and 5,120-core GPU, 24 GB of unified memory and a 512 GB SSD. Higher-end configurations offer a 20-core CPU, 6,144-core GPU, up to 128 GB of unified memory and up to 2 TB of storage.
That puts the Ultra well above Microsoft’s regular Surface Laptop lineup. The 15-inch Surface Laptop launched in June at $2,399.99 CAD and is currently on sale for $1,999.99. Microsoft had already raised Canadian Surface prices by as much as $700 earlier this year.
The Ultra has a 15-inch mini-LED PixelSense touchscreen with a 3,270 by 2,180 resolution, refresh rates up to 120Hz and peak HDR brightness of 2,000 nits. Microsoft says the RTX Sparkchip can deliver up to one petaflop of AI performance and run AI models with more than 120 billion parameters locally.
Ports include three USB-C connections, USB-A, HDMI, an SD card reader and a headphone jack. Microsoft has also replaced Surface Connect with a magnetic USB-C charging system.
Microsoft is offering Canadian buyers up to $1,300 back for an eligible MacBook trade-in through November 23.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella called the day “a new chapter for Windows” in a post on X, listing the biggest announcements and singling out Surface Laptop Ultra and NVIDIA’s RTX Spark as the hardware that brings them to life.
The Surface Laptop Ultra follows Microsoft’s broader push into higher-end Surface hardware and is available to pre-order now through the Canadian Microsoft Store.
