Apple’s iPhone Duo Repair Prices in Canada Are Absolutely Brutal

Apple has published Canadian repair prices for its new foldable iPhone Duo ahead of pre-orders opening Friday, October 16, at 5 a.m. PT, giving buyers a look at how much it could cost to fix a damaged device.

The iPhone Duo starts at $2,999 CAD in Canada, but repairing its folding display could add a hefty expense for owners without AppleCare+.

According to Apple’s Canadian support website, replacing the inner folding display costs an estimated $1,499 CAD without warranty coverage. That’s the most expensive individual repair listed for the device.

Damage to the outer display is considerably cheaper to fix at $499 CAD, while repairing the outer display and back glass together costs $669 CAD.

Apple has also published estimated prices for several other repairs, including $69 CAD for damage to the replaceable cover layer, $269 CAD for back glass damage, $309 CAD for the rear camera and $319 CAD for battery service.

Then there’s the dreaded “other damage” category, which costs a whopping $2,249 CAD. That’s just $750 CAD less than buying a brand-new iPhone Duo. Yeah, you might want to think twice before skipping AppleCare+.

Apple says these are estimated out-of-warranty repair fees, so taxes may apply. Customers who mail in their devices for service could also face a shipping charge.

For Canadians considering Apple’s first foldable iPhone, repair costs are another thing to think about before spending at least $2,999 CAD. A damaged inner display alone could cost nearly half the price of a new device.

We’ve also included the iPhone Duo in our Best iPhone to Buy in Canada guide for anyone comparing Apple’s latest models.

For buyers worried about accidental damage, AppleCare+ remains the option for reducing repair costs rather than paying Apple’s full out-of-warranty prices.
