Google’s Genie 4 Builds Live Worlds You Steer With Plain Words
Google DeepMind has taken another step forward in artificial intelligence research by revealing Genie 4, its latest world model designed to create interactive environments in real time.

Building upon the capabilities of previous iterations, this new system brings a higher level of realism, maintaining stable scenes for twice as long as its predecessor. It allows users to steer virtual worlds dynamically using text commands and natural language.
The model relies on integration within the broader Gemini ecosystem. While specialized models handle complex multi-step reasoning to keep the environment coherent, the underlying framework processes visual data and actions smoothly. Users can set events in motion, move cameras, alter weather conditions, or introduce new characters on the fly.
One of the most notable upgrades in Genie 4 is its native audio generation. Unlike older systems that required external audio editing or post-processing, this model builds ambient sounds directly into the scene. Whether a virtual space features wind rustling through trees or waves crashing against a shore, the audio matches the environment automatically.
Furthermore, the technology introduces interactive dialogue. Simulated characters can converse, react to user inputs, and respond to sudden changes within the digital world. This capability creates a more immersive experience, shifting virtual simulations from passive visual clips into responsive environments.
Google DeepMind envisions diverse applications for this technology. Engineers and researchers can use these real-time simulations to test robotic scenarios safely before deploying them in the physical world. Meanwhile, creative industries such as filmmaking, gaming, and media production can utilize the tool for rapid storyboarding, ideation, and prototyping virtual sets.
Google has started rolling out Genie 4 as a research preview for a select group of trusted testers. The company plans to make it available soon to Google AI Ultra subscribers through Project Genie.
