SBSettings: The Ultimate BossPrefs Replacement
If you’re going to jailbreak your iPhone 3G, one of the essential apps to have is BossPrefs. In a nutshell, BossPrefs allows you to control the vital settings of your iPhone easily by double clicking the Home button your iPhone. From there, you can quickly turn off 3G, control SSH and WiFi and more.
A new app recently emerged that I just absolutely love–it’s called SBSettings. It is the perfect replacement for BossPrefs. What makes it different? For starters, to access SBSettings all you do is swipe the top left of your screen (where the signal bars are) and a tiny menu will appear on screen.
The big buttons are the toggles for 3G, Bluetooth, SSH, and WiFi. Green means ON and red means OFF. Just tap and go and you’re ready to go! What I love about SBSettings is that I can access all this info straight from the Springboard, without “sliding to unlock”, then double clicking to access BossPrefs. Future updates will include the ability to make your own toggles and minor fixes.
You can download SBSettings via Cydia. Now when I want to switch WiFi on/off, it takes a couple seconds (versus 3-5 seconds before; how lazy are we nowadays? Time is money!). How are you liking SBSettings?

Not bad. Quick Solution for me, as BDS Subsystems FRACKS up my iphone.
SSH ??
Think of it like remote desktop.
I’m always looking for the latest, greatest app. Thanks iPhone Fan. I think this app could be it. However, I don’t like how it’s ad supported when you click ‘More’. I haven’t tried it while making a call, so we’ll have to see how it holds up. I do like how when you play a game, swiping the corner does not bring up the sbsettings unlike dockprefs where you have to manually disable it for every app (which became so tedious that I scrapped the whole app!). sbsettings is a convenient way to reboot especially if you have 7+ pages of apps. I always reboot when I see my battery go down on its own.
Honestly, the best thing to do is to uninstall SSH after use. I heard SSH can decrease battery life and from what I’ve noticed, it slows down the iPhone as well. Just a tip that I find useful.
Reboot just shut off my phone. Not cool. Going to uninstall now.
My only concern with programs that are easily accessible with a swipe on the screen is how does it effect the iphone’s memory? Since it’s ‘always’ running in the background?
This app is fairly small, so I don’t think it will have much affect on the phone. Convenience factor vs memory useage? 😉
Works great and I like it 😛
Thanks for the info!
Just got a shiny new iPhone, but without the data plan. After my FIDO rep scaring the crap outta me with stories of $1000 phone bills of people with no data plans having their wi-fi turn off, I checked to see what I can do about it. BOSSprefs keeps popping up everywhere. So my question is, do I have to “jailbreak” my phone to add this app? And what is this Cydia thing? Sorry, obvious noob here. 🙂
BossPrefs is still better. Why f*ck with a good thing?
What am supposed to click on when I first open Cydia?
