What to Expect From Apple’s iPhone 18 Event With a Foldable on Stage

Looks like Apple’s September 9 keynote is three days away, and Sundays Power On newsletter for Bloomberg lays out what Mark Gurman expects from John Ternus’s first iPhone event as CEO. Here’s the Canadian watch list before the livestream hits 10am PT/1pm ET.

Foldable iPhone

• Book-style design often called iPhone Ultra inside Apple, roughly passport-sized when folded
• Large interior display plus a smaller cover screen, with an advanced hinge meant to keep the crease quieter
• A20 Pro chip, Apple’s in-house C2 modem, Touch ID, and split-view multitasking
• Ultra-wide and regular cameras with no telephoto; rumour mill still has pricing north of $2,000 US

The biggest question we’re waiting on is how the expected price increases will hit Canada, especially with current exchange rates. Even so, we’re guessing the foldable still lands somewhere north of $3,000 CAD plus tax once it reaches Canadian buyers, which is just the reality of that US rumour range after you factor in exchange ranges and what Apple might be hedging.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max

• Familiar Pro look with new light-blue and dark-red finishes
• Same A20 Pro and C2 modem, with better battery life and vapor chambers
• Camera upgrades that include a mechanical aperture, at least on the Pro Max

Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4

• New colours, plus ceramic on the Series 12
• More health and fitness work aimed at the next wave of AI Siri
• Testing of a continuous all-day heart-rate sensor

AirPods 5

• Low-end refresh with regular and ANC versions in the same weeks mix
• Camera AI AirPods still pushed to next year, so don’t expect that feature here

Apple TV

• Refresh with a faster chip meant for Siri AI
• Tweaked remote alongside the box update
