According to the company, in a statement to iPhone in Canada, the game “is an endless sandboarding journey set against a gorgeous and ever-changing desert landscape.”

Alto’s Odyssey The game features Alto series hallmarks like fluid physics-based movement, procedurally generated terrain, and dynamic lighting and weather effects. This time around, players will soar above windswept dunes, traverse thrilling canyons, and explore long-hidden temple cities in a fantastical place far from Alto’s home village. Along the way, you’ll grind across vines, bounce atop hot air balloons, ride towering rock walls, and escape mischievous lemurs – all while uncovering the desert’s many mysteries.

Alto’s Odyssey will be priced at $4.99 USD and will be a universal app with iCloud sync.

Snowman CEO Ryan Cash told the Financial Post in an interview, the company still is affected by fake clones of their original Alto title in the App Store.

Cash said “cloned games are almost always free, and almost always mislead people that are looking for the title they’re replicating. As a team that cares deeply about crafting artful experiences that bring people joy, it’s one of the worst things we can imagine to consider that clones of our game might confuse players and – even if just in some small part – taint their view of the series or the Alto name.”

Apple needs to take a serious look at how clones are handled in the App Store.
