Amazon Kindle Ebook Store Quietly Launched Canada

Amazon has quietly launched the Kindle Store in Canada over the weekend. First spotted by the Digital Reader last Friday, Amazon’s landing page revealed the debut of the Kindle Store to allow Canadians to purchase ebooks with their local account, instead of going through a US portal.

For Canadian iOS users, this means it will be easier for you to use your Canadian Amazon account to read purchased ebooks on your Kindle and the Kindle iPhone app, which launched here back in late 2009.

Unfortunately, there is still no sign of hardware available in the US such as Amazon Kindle Fire tablets or the latest Kindle Paperwhite for purchase yet in Canada.

Let us know if you’re excited about this. Check out the new store on Amazon.ca here. Anyone make Kindle ebook purchases yet with this?

I wonder if there is the same selection of titles between the US and CDN store. I wouldn’t mind switching over but not if I can’t get the same content.

Some ebooks are more expensive… You dont have a choice when you buy, they make you pay the canadian price…

It is never good news when they create Canadian Sites,
prices will go up and contents reduced by about 70%

I’ll stick with the US store as the prices will undoubtedly be cheaper.
