Instagram iOS Update Makes it Easier to Record Videos to ‘Stories’

Earlier this month, Instagram launched ‘Stories’, the company’s take on Snapchat’s similar feature where shared media expunges after a period of time, in this case 24 hours. Today’s update is all about making it easier and faster to share stories while one-handed.

The first minor update to Stories now allows users to zoom in and out while recording video. While holding down the record button to film a video, just slide your finger up and down to zoom in or out. Another addition makes it easier to switch between front and rear cameras on your iPhone by double-tapping the screen in Stories.

The company also says there are “Lots of bug fixes and improvements to make stories even better (and faster).”

If you weren’t aware, you can also upload recent media to Instagram Stories. Tap the “+” icon to get to the live Stories camera view, then pull down on the screen to see your Camera Roll.
