New Redesigned Sportsnet for iOS Released: Custom Alerts, Live TV and More

Rogers has released version 3.0 of Sportsnet for iPhone and iPad, which comes with a brand new redesign. The app now allows for custom alerts from your favourite sports leagues and teams, while the videos sections offers highlights and clips.

Also new is the ability to watch live Sportsnet (which requires a cable sign-in; available only for Rogers, Shaw, Source and Cogeco subscribers for now).

The design includes a permanent on-screen Sportsnet ‘home’ button, which allows for quick shortcuts to live TV, favourites, leagues and Sportsnet radio.

What’s New in Version 3.0

Welcome to the all new Sportsnet iOS app. We have totally re-designed our iOS app to bring the excitement of sports, right to your device. The Sportsnet app delivers the latest news, opinion, analysis, live stream, video highlights, scores, stats, and interviews, personalized for you, the Canadian sports fan.

When watching a video clip, users can minimize video with one tap on the lower arrow icon, which brings a picture-in-picture effect, which you can tap and ‘swing’ away to close it, taking a page out of the YouTube iOS app. AirPlay is supported for video clips.

Overall, the new design is pretty clean and the app is pretty easy to navigate, with lots of sports highlights and clips to checkout (without any commercials, yet). If you don’t subscribe to Sportsnet as part of your cable package, this is one way to watch highlights for free.
