Apple’s AR Glasses Expected to Launch in 2024

Apple’s long-rumoured AR glasses are expected to be announced in late 2024, according to Haitong Intl Tech Research analyst Jeff Pu. News of the AR glasses comes off the increasing news that Apple’s mixed-reality headset may arrive next year.

In a research note obtained by 9to5Mac, Pu claims that Luxshare will retain its place as one of Apple’s core suppliers. As part of its role, Luxshare will be responsible for many of the core production of products released from 2022 to 2024. The China-based manufacturing company is expected to have a hand in products such as Apple Watch Series 8, iPhone 14, and Apple’s AR/VR headset. On top of that, Pu claims that Luxshare will be a supplier of the Apple AR glasses, which Pu claims will be introduced in late 2024.

As one can expect, details on the Apple AR glasses are fairly scarce. However, reports of the device have circulated for a number of years at this point. Primarily, reports point to a possibility where the AR glasses could function dependently and be a supplemental piece of hardware to the iPhone. In fact, some reports predict that Apple’ AR glasses could replace the iPhone within a decade.

Apple’s mixed-reality headset is more of a known quantity. With VR and AR capabilities, the headset is positioned to be a premium entry in Apple’s catalogue. Per claims from analysts such as Ming-Chi Kuo, the headset could feature 8K displays, Apple’s M1 chip, and be priced as high as $3,000 USD.

In his research note, Pu claims that Apple’s new headset will launch in early 2023. However, interestingly enough, Pu also states that Apple may release a second-generation headset alongside the AR glasses in 2024.
