Jason Sudeikis Wins Golden Globe Award for ‘Ted Lasso’

Jason Sudeikis walked away with a Golden Globe for his work on Apple TV+ original series ‘Ted Lasso’. Sudeikis repeated his winning from 2021, receiving the award for ‘Best Television Actor in a Musical or a Comedy.’

During the 79th Golden Globe Awards, held on January 9, the Ted Lasso star once again won for his work on the series. This year, Apple TV+ streamed the entirety of the sophomore series of Ted Lasso. In 2021, Sudeikis took home the first Golden Globe to be awarded to an Apple TV+ production.

Ted Lasso was nominated for a handful of other categories. The series was up for the ‘Best Television Series’ award. However, the award ultimately went to HBO Max’s ‘Hacks.’ Additionally, co-stars Hannah Waddingham and Brett Goldstein were both  nominated for “Best Performance by an Actor/Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series.’ Though unfortunately, neither won the award during the night.

Apple TV+ series ‘The Morning Show’ was also up for a couple of nominations as well. Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass were also nominated for ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series.’ Jennifer Aniston was also nominated for ‘Best Television Actress.’ Throughout the entirety of the Golden Globe Awards ceremony, Sudeikis’s win was Apple’s one and only.

Ted Lasso has continued to prove to be a critical and success for Apple’s streaming platform. The third season of the series is supposedly in production and is expected to begin streaming on Apple TV+ sometime later this year.
