Rumour: Apple may Launch New 13-Inch Macbook Pro Next Month

Apple could be readying itself to launch a new 13-inch MacBook as soon as next month, according to a claim made by a leaker online.

YouTube content creator and leaker Jon Prosser posted on Twitter that “if everything goes well”, Apple would be launching a new MacBook Pro in May. Codenamed J223, the new Macbook Pro would be a 13″ refresh to the current model.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had recently said that Apple would be devising a launch of a new 14-inch MacBook Pro. In March, Kuo’s analyst reports indicated that Apple would reveal a MacBook Air with a scissor keyboard, which has already been announced. This only leaves the possibility of this MacBook Pro to perhaps being the rumoured 14″ display unit. The MacBook Pro under the guise of J223 could end up replacing the 13″ MacBook Pro and give users that small bump in display size, as Kuo noted.

As reported by MacRumors, the new MacBook Pro would likely feature Intel’s 10th Gen Ice Lake processor. Beyond that, it is likely that the new MacBook Pro will also feature the scissor keyboard after the troubles Apple users experienced with the butterfly keyboards. The stiff keys would often lock up, forcing Apple to issue free repairs to customers.

Kuo’s notes did indicate that the new MacBook Pro may launch in Q2 2020. If Prosser’s claims are correct, we’ll have a full scope on the new MacBook Pro in a month’s time.
