Bell recently announced its networks have been able to “maintain speed and reliability during COVID-19 crisis”, noting its overall network reliability has been 99.99%.
In an update shared on June 26, Bell said “despite the significant increase in demand on our critical communication services, we are pleased to report Bell has maintained an overall network reliability of 99.99% throughout the COVID-19 crisis.”
Bell says over the past few months, its internet data volumes have surged as much as 60% during the day and 20% in the evening, while landline and wireless voice traffic has increased by 200% during peak times.
Conference calling has also increased 250%, while there has also been an “increased demand” for 1-800 services to support public health and other government information lines, says the company.
Bell Wireless Home Internet Rollout Complete for Certain Rural Areas
In other related news, Bell said on June 23 it had also “successfully completed the rollout of our Wireless Home Internet service to approximately 137,000 additional rural households in 180 communities.”
Bell says this completion is based on its previous announcement of fast-tracking its high-speed internet rollout due to COVID-19 quarantine restrictions.
